But in a key scene back in the first series, eagle-eyed viewers may have missed a major inconsistency with Marty's accountancy background.

For when he makes a transfer worth hundreds of thousands of dollars into his account there is a significant shortfall – which a true financial expert would have been unlikely to make.

The plot hole occurs in episode seven, titled Nest Box, when Marty (played by Jason Bateman) and wife Wendy (Laura Linney) needed funds to keep their money laundering business going having moved from Chicago to The Ozarks.

The couple approached local real estate mogul Eugenia Dermody (Sharon Blackwood) with an investment opportunity that seemed too good to turn down.

After initial reluctance, Eugenia entrusted Marty with her finances in the hopes of profiting in the future.

With a fortune of close a $1million, Marty transferred Eugenia's money into his own account to be used in his own business.

Having logged on to his computer to transfer the funds, viewers saw his balance standing at $15,736.42, while Eugenia had a massive $906,352.17.

After Marty quickly transferred her money into his own account, viewers saw the crooked accountant's delight as his finances increased to $932,088.59.
